Terms of service
Last updated: 11 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and GAZUM, Corp. ("we", "us") about ELSEWHERE, the game. By playing, you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you don't accept them, please don't use the game.
The game
You photograph a place, and AI paints a level from your photo: six small things hidden in it, the place repainted as its Elsewhere, and a Stray that follows you home. Making a level uses one film; playing levels, including friends' levels, community levels and Today's Seam, is free.
Your account
The game gives you an anonymous account, kept on your device. Keep your device safe: anyone using it can play as you. You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live requires it, to play. One person, one account: making accounts to collect free film is not allowed.
Your photos
- Only photograph what you may. You need the right to take and use every photo you upload. Don't photograph people without their permission, places where photography isn't allowed, or anything illegal.
- Your photos are processed by AI. To make a level, your photo is sent to OpenAI, as the Privacy policy explains. The game asks for your consent before your first photo.
- You keep your rights. Your photos stay yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process and display them, and the levels made from them, to run the game: to show a level to you, to anyone you send its link to and, if you share it with everyone, to other players. The licence ends when you delete the level or your account, except for copies other people already saved, such as share cards.
What the AI paints
Levels are painted with AI, and we say so on share cards. The results can be surprising, imperfect or occasionally wrong. If something painted is offensive, report it from the level's menu. You may keep, download and share the images of your own levels for personal, non-commercial use.
Community rules
Don't make, share or try to share levels with sexual content, violence, hate, harassment, or anything that breaks the law or someone else's rights. Don't try to break, overload, copy or cheat the game, or to get around its limits. Levels in which a person is visible can be played by link but not shared with everyone. We may hide or remove levels and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we review every report. A level reported as offensive or as showing a person is hidden until we have reviewed it, and an account with two levels removed for breaking these rules can no longer share with everyone.
Film, the Cartographer's Pass and purchases
- Film is what you spend to make a level. It is a virtual item: it has no cash value and can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for money.
- Free film: a starter roll of 3, then 1 a week and 1 for every 7-day play streak, up to 2 saved. We may change the amounts of free film, and when the day's AI painting budget is spent, free film may rest until the next day.
- Purchased film never expires.
- If a level can't be made because of a problem on our side, its film is returned automatically.
- The Cartographer's Pass is a monthly subscription: one film every day (unused film does not carry over to the next day) and the other benefits described in the game when you subscribe. It renews automatically each month at the price shown in the game unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting your account does not cancel it.
- Payments are handled by Apple or Google, and refunds follow their policies and the law where you live. Film and the Pass's benefits are delivered at once: where the law gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content, you agree that delivery begins immediately and acknowledge that you lose that right once it has. If a purchase is refunded, the film it gave is removed, and your film balance may go below zero until you get more.
- Strays are never sold. Each one's rarity is random, with these odds: Common 50%, Rare 35%, Mythic 15%.
- Strays have no monetary value. In the game you can give a Stray to another player, or swap it for one of theirs, but Strays can't be bought, sold or exchanged for film, money or anything else, and offering or asking to do so breaks these terms. When you delete your account, the Strays you keep return to the Starwell and are gone for good; the ones you gave away stay with their keepers.
Changes and availability
We keep improving the game, so features, limits and prices may change. We'll tell you in the game before a significant change to these terms applies. We try to keep the game running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may end it, with at least 30 days' notice in the game; if we do, we will refund unused purchased film where the law requires it.
Ending
You can stop playing and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where the law requires, we'll tell you why.
Our responsibility
We provide the game as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about the game is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be decided by the state and federal courts in Orange County, Florida. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts. These terms are also available in Spanish; if the two versions differ, the English version prevails, except where the law where you live requires otherwise.
